5月31日，四川大學校長謝和平院士獲牛津大學圣艾德蒙學院授予“牛津大學圣艾德蒙Fellow”學術(shù)稱號。該榮譽是對謝和平校長為積極推進四川大學和牛津大學圣艾德蒙學院之間的學術(shù)合作、促進兩校師生創(chuàng)造高水平學術(shù)成果方面所做出的杰出貢獻的高度肯定，兩校師生均從中受益匪淺。
自2014年以來，牛津大學和四川大學在各層面、各領(lǐng)域成功推進學術(shù)合作，實施了四川大學學生在牛津大學正式注冊學習的“訪問學生項目”、四川大學教授在牛津大學進行科研訪學的“客座教授項目”、牛津大學教授在四川大學講學的“牛津大講堂項目”、四川大學教師在牛津大學進修的“青年骨干教師培訓項目”和“臨床醫(yī)學課程培訓項目”，等等。同時，牛津大學和四川大學還深度探討商榷了雙方在四川成都合作建立“牛津四川尖端科研和教學聯(lián)合中心”的可行性。
謝和平院士擁有中國礦業(yè)大學博士學位、德國克勞斯塔尓工業(yè)大學榮譽博士學位、香港理工大學榮譽博士學位、英國諾丁漢大學榮譽博士學位，長期深研礦業(yè)工程力學的理論和應(yīng)用，曾經(jīng)著有6本中英文專著，發(fā)表超過200篇學術(shù)論文，其中100多篇登載于SCI期刊。
圣艾德蒙學院是牛津大學歷史最悠久的學院之一，從1317年就開始有相關(guān)的辦學文件記錄。圣艾德蒙學院來自世界各國的畢業(yè)生受惠于學院數(shù)百年力行不懈的嚴謹教學和啟發(fā)鼓舞，在法律、經(jīng)濟、醫(yī)學、新聞學、科學、公共服務(wù)、藝術(shù)等領(lǐng)域出類拔萃、成就非凡。
牛津大學圣艾德蒙學院新聞原文：
Professor Heping Xie has been awarded a St Edmund Fellowship by the College. This honour is in recognition of his leadership of academic collaborations between St Edmund Hall and Sichuan University, in Chengdu, China. Professor Xie has contributed widely to the ongoing collaboration which has brought academic benefits to faculty members and students at both institutions.
Professor Xie is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and President of Sichuan University. He has long been engaged in the theoretical and applied research of mining engineering mechanics, and has authored six books and published over 200 papers including more than 100 of them in the SCI journals.
Since 2014, St Edmund Hall and Sichuan University have forged a successful partnership – including the implementation of visiting student and visiting fellow programmes; a series of distinguished speaker lectures; and summer courses focusing on Academic Medicine and Economics & Public Policy. These activities have facilitated academic contacts between the two institutions and stimulated collaborative research.
