Postdoctoral Position in Prostate Immunology
Eastern Virginia Medical School
The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Cell Biology and the Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center at Eastern Virginia Medical School is in search of a candidate to fulfill the duties of a full time Research Scholar (Postdoctoral Scholar) position in the Laboratory of Dr. Petra Popovics. The ideal candidate will have at minimum, a recent PhD degree in biomedical sciences or related field. Prior experience in molecular biology and working with mouse models is required whereas Proteomics, Lipidomics or Transcriptomics experience is highly preferred.
The PI`s research focuses on the role of immune remodeling and lipid dysregulation in prostate disease and utilizes various in vitro and in vivo models and histological methods on human specimens to uncover the molecular and cellular mechanism of these processes. The successful candidate will lead projects exploring transcriptome/proteome/lipidome of the prostate in mouse models as well as in human specimens and will perform chemical, biological, molecular biological, surgical or other laboratory tests and procedures in support of these projects. Highly motivated, hard-working, and technically skilled applicants with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. This position will work under the general supervision of the PI and should have expertise in molecular biology, mouse surgery or functional testing, microscopy and histological techniques. The position will be responsible for managing projects that incorporates conducting experiments, performing analyses, developing methods, operating instruments as well as reporting on these activities including conference presentations and manuscript preparation. Ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment and flexibility to work in a fast-paced team in a professional and pleasant manner is a necessity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations, to write scientific and technical reports, to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, researchers and other employees of the medical school are required.
