Position Overview and Responsibilities

The Gorman Lab is seeking a highly motivated, passionate Postdoc to investigate the mechanisms of autoimmune disease and/or inflammation. This is a mentored position in which the candidate will design and conduct research experiments; manage research projects; prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation, and future research; and contribute to grant writing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of scientific theory and research.

Demonstrates skill in formulating and testing hypotheses.

Ability to conduct scientific research experiments, analyze, and summarize data and results.

Ability communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Ability to present ideas and results.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in a biological science, chemistry, physics or other relevant area, M.D., or equivalent.

Highly motivated and enthusiastic about science.

Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to communicate and write summaries of result.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong publication track record in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals in the field of immunology.

Interest in autoimmunity and/or infectious disease.

Immunology training or experience.

Experience with small animal models of autoimmunity or infectious diseases and/or with human immunology along with human specimens specifically peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).

Experience with Flow Cytometry and/or RNAseq.

Experience with tissue culture techniques.
