            You will join the Maritime Engineering Group at the University of Southampton and contribute to the project “Towards A Digital Twin: Developing a marine corrosion model using AI”. The project is closely collaborating with key stakeholders in the marine industry to develop an integrated solution to allow accurate prediction of marine structural performances and degradation in service. You will undertake the following:

              Further develop the physics-based machine learning methodology for material degradation prediction in marine environments.

              Contribute to the development of a ship structural model that is capable of predict life-cycle performances.

              Writing/editing report and presenting progress at regular meetings with academic team and industrial partners.

              Participation in impact and public engagement activities.

              Disseminate research outcome through publications.

            This requires the Research Fellow to have the following skills and experience:

              PhD degree in maritime engineering or equivalent professional qualification and experience

              Post doc experience in developing physics-based machine learning and its application in material sciences.

              Knowledge of marine corrosion and naval architecture.

              Programming skills in Python.

              Expertise in nonlinear finite element analysis of marine structures.

            Experience in digital twin modelling is desirable but not essential.
