Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Wind Energy
University of Oxford
Description
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Environmental Fluid Mechanics Group at the Department of Engineering Science in central Oxford. The post is funded by the UKRI and is initially fixed-term for two years with the possibility of extension.
The successful applicant will join a research programme on the fluid mechanics of offshore renewable energy, with a particular focus on wind energy. You will perform computational fluid dynamics simulations of wind turbines to understand their steady and unsteady loading and performance in a range of operating and atmospheric conditions relevant to the offshore environment. This will lead to the development of improved engineering models, and contribute to the group's overall efforts in rotor fluid mechanics.
You should hold a relevant PhD (or be near completion) and have a strong publication history. A strong background in computational fluid dynamics together with the ability to understand the aerodynamics of wind energy generation and atmospheric flows is essential.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Christopher Vogel (email: christopher.vogel@eng.ox.ac.uk)
Only applications received before midday on the 26th August 2022 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.
