About the role
We have a new and exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Postdoctoral Researcher to contribute to the research group led by Professor K Vallis. The appointee will lead a laboratory-based research project the goal of which is to optimise the use of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)-targeted radiotherapy by understanding and exploiting the anti-tumour immune response. This post is funded by Prostate Cancer UK.
You will manage and conduct your own research and develop research questions within the context of the groups' interests, analysing data from a variety of sources. You will generate original ideas by building on existing concepts, conduct rigorous scientific research to the highest standards of the field and develop, establish, and pursue appropriate analytical protocols and techniques to support your research, and be able to independently research published material.
You will also regularly write research articles for peer-reviewed journals, and reviews as well as present work and papers at national/international conferences to disseminate research findings.
You will also organise and delegate work and coach other members of the team on specialist methodologies or procedures where appropriate and provide supervision for PhD students when needed.
The post is based at the Oxford Institute for Radiation Oncology, Radiobiology Research Institute, Churchill Hospital, Headington, Oxford OX3 7LJ and is offered on a full-time basis, fixed-term until 30th November 2022.
About you
You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil (e.g. biomedical science, pharmacy/radiopharmacy, chemistry/radiochemistry, biochemistry) together with sufficient specialist knowledge in cancer biology to be able to work collaboratively with other scientists in related research programmes.
You will have a good publication record at the level of first author publication in peer-reviewed journal(s) (an essential requirement).
Experience of both in vivo research and working with radioisotopes (e.g. radiolabelling of biomolecules etc) is essential. Some experience of transcriptomic analysis would be advantageous.
This is a full-time post fixed until 30th November 23 in the first instance.
