Postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Biao Wang’s laboratory at Cardiovascular Research Institute (CVRI) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). UCSF, one of the ten campuses of the University of California, is devoted solely to graduate education and research in the health sciences. The CVRI is organized into 8 scientific neighborhoods including metabolism and obesity (https://cvri.ucsf.edu/). Wang’s laboratory has investigated the transcriptional regulation of thermoregulation and metabolism in adipocytes (Diabetes 2017; Cell Metabolism 2018; Cell Reports 2021).
Current areas of interest are:
1: Immunometabolism in adipose tissue
2: Functions of Salt-inducible kinases and their substrates in metabolism
3: Mechanisms and functions of protein translocation
There is one position available for each research area. Candidates must have received a recent M.D. or Ph.D. or equivalent degree and are familiar with various molecular, cellular, omic approaches and in vivo animal studies. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact with others with diverse areas of expertise within UCSF campus. Candidates who have a strong motivation to pursue academic research are encouraged to apply.
