Genetically engineered imaging reporter (reporter genes) have become the highlighter felt pens of modern science; they enable scientists to tag molecules of interest and have them stand out in striking contrast to show their location or function in cells and tissues in colorful relief. Developing novel reporter genes engineered for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can dramatically improve our ability to monitor dynamic gene expression changes noninvasively, and combine this real-time information with high-resolution anatomical images.
The main goal of our lab is to combine several techniques from variable fields such as molecular biology, biochemistry, and MRI to explore, study and develop novel reporter genes for multiplexed in vivo imaging using MRI.
A postdoc position is open in our lab at the Weizmann Institute of Science (Dr. Amnon Bar-Shir: http://www.weizmann.ac.il/Organic_Chemistry/Bar-Shir/home-page). Successful candidates will be funded by generous scholarships and will be working in our fully renovated and fully equipped laboratory. The research will be performed in the Weizmann Institute of Science, whose official language is English and which offers all its activities including courses, seminars, workshops and trainings for international trainees (For further information on Weizmann Institute’s postdoctoral programs, please see the Feinberg Graduate School website: http://www.weizmann.ac.il/feinberg/).
A candidate for this position should have good background in molecular biology and biochemistry, with knowledge in magnetic resonance as an advantage.
If you are interested, please send your CV and list of publications to amnon.barshir@weizmann.ac.il…
