FutureNeuro is the national research centre focused on chronic and rare neurological diseases, funded by Science Foundation Ireland and based at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. FutureNeuro brings together multidisciplinary scientific teams with clinicians and industry to deliver advances in diagnostic medicine, personalized and network therapeutics, cross- linked by a national e-Health infrastructure platform that is disease-focused.
Position summary:
FutureNeuro, as part of the EMPOWER spoke, is seeking a suitably qualified Research Fellow to join its eHealth team. The FutureNeuro eHealth portfolio includes development and implementation of Application Programming Interface (APIs) for data exchange between devices and applications, data analytics and machine learning, clinical trials of eHealth solutions, development of clinical decision support tools. The Research Fellow will work collaboratively with academic, clinical care and the industry partner across Ireland.
The successful candidate will lead research and innovation on Building public trust and confidence in the secondary use of patient data to drive continuous healthcare improvement. The project aims to develop a community of practice to explore how and why patient data is used for healthcare improvement and research, and develop a culture that promotes the trustworthy use of data. It will contribute to: (i) improving and increasing awareness by the public of the availability and use of their health information by different stakeholders; (ii) ensuring public standards are in place for health data use, and (iii) ensuring there is understanding amongst the public on how data are collected and used. The project involves a range of research methods, including qualitative study and co-design with relevant stakeholders. This position offers the successful candidate an excellent opportunity to contribute to improved understanding on building public trust and confidence in the use of secondary data with a wide range of stakeholders.
