The post will involve working closely with the recently appointed Professor of Mental Health Nursing, regularly liaising with academic researchers, service managers and clinicians, service users and carers, to identify and develop funded research studies.
The Professor of Mental Health Nursing will be developing a programme of research in mental health services and mental health nursing. The Professor’s post spans the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care, and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The postholder will work with academics, clinicians, service users, carers, and service managers to conduct high quality research that aims to improve the delivery and experience of mental health nursing and mental healthcare across service settings.
We are looking to employ someone with experience of conducting research in relevant clinical environments; with an understanding of the issues faced in working with service users/patients with complex health and social care needs; with interpersonal and communication skills necessary to work assertively and sensitively; and with high quality research skills that will enable a critical and thoughtful understanding and presentation of the issues identified. Experience in collating, analysing and presenting information to senior academics, service managers and clinicians is essential, as is experience in co-production and/or working collaboratively with service users. The postholder must be able to travel as required.
This post will be offered on a fixed term contract of 24 months
