Postdoctoral Fellow - Virology Research
City of Hope
Position Summary
A Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity is immediately available for the highly motivated individual in the laboratory of Dr. Yuman Fong, at the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, a prestigious NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The candidate will directly work on oncolytic virus project, which involves assessing safety and anti-tumor efficacy of different viral constructs, in vitro and in mice. Oncolytic virotherapy is a major focus of our laboratory. The candidate will be working with our oncolytic poxvirus (CF33) and potentially other viral platforms.
Some of the tasks for this position include:
· Designing experimental plans
· Performing experiments to characterize oncolytic viruses. Experiments include amplification and purification of viruses, tissue culture, immune assays and tumor models in mice
· Studying oncolytic viruses in combination with immunotherapeutic agents
· Maintaining a good documentation of laboratory work
· Writing/amending regulatory protocols such as IACUC/IBC
Skills that are used in the lab include:
· Molecular engineering of viruses
· Immune assays
· Safety/efficacy testing of oncolytic viruses and immunotherapies in mice.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
· PhD in the field of Virology, Immunology, Oncology, Molecular biology, or other related areas, with a good understanding of cancer immunotherapy.
· Experience with basic virus-related work, molecular cloning, tissue culture, qPCR, Western blot etc.
· Experience with generation of recombinant viruses is desirable but not required.
· Experience with flowcytometry
· Experience with other immune assays such as ELISA and Elispot, is desirable

Salary / Pay Rate Information:
Pay Rate: $31.00 - $34.23 / hour
