Shenzhen Bay Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as SZBL), initiated by Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government, is one of the second batch of the Guangdong Provincial Laboratories. SZBL is founded under the provincial government’s initiative of establishing and developing a host of high quality research institutes in Guangdong province with the aim of having a few of them eventually becoming National Laboratories. SZBL is led by the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission of Shenzhen Municipality and the Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, and jointly supported by relevant research institutions or universities in Shenzhen, Hong Kong and Macao. The focus research areas of SZBL are bio-data science, bioengineering, and biomedicine.

為貫徹落實(shí)《粵港澳大灣區(qū)發(fā)展規(guī)劃綱要》，推進(jìn)粵港澳高等教育和科研的深度合作，深圳灣實(shí)驗(yàn)室和香港科技大學(xué)擬開展博士生聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)計(jì)劃，共同招收生命科學(xué)、化學(xué)方向聯(lián)合培養(yǎng)博士研究生，實(shí)行雙導(dǎo)師指導(dǎo)，頒發(fā)香港科技大學(xué)博士學(xué)位。
In order to implement the Outline of Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, promoting the in-depth cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in the area of higher education and scientific research, SZBL and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (hereinafter referred to as HKUST) intend to launch a Joint PhD Student Training Program (hereinafter referred to as the Program). The Program enrolls PhD students in the fields of life science and chemistry, with the implementation of double advisors guidance, and awards the doctoral degree of the HKUST.
一、招生計(jì)劃 Enrollment Plan
二、獎(jiǎng)助學(xué)金 Studentship
深圳灣實(shí)驗(yàn)室為聯(lián)培博士研究生提供最高4年的獎(jiǎng)助學(xué)金資助。其中，在香港學(xué)習(xí)期間，深圳灣實(shí)驗(yàn)室按香港科技大學(xué)博士生標(biāo)準(zhǔn)提供獎(jiǎng)助學(xué)金。在深圳灣實(shí)驗(yàn)室學(xué)習(xí)期間，按實(shí)驗(yàn)室相關(guān)制度評(píng)定和發(fā)放獎(jiǎng)助學(xué)金。
SZBL will provide PhD candidates with a studentship for up to 4 years. Among them, during the study in Hong Kong, SZBL will provide studentship in accordance with the standard for postgraduate student of the HKUST. During the study in SZBL, the studentship will be granted in accordance with the relevant standard of the SZBL.
三、學(xué)習(xí)費(fèi)用 Tuition and Fees
學(xué)生需按時(shí)向香港科技大學(xué)繳納學(xué)費(fèi)及其他相關(guān)費(fèi)用。若學(xué)習(xí)年限超過最高資助年限（4年），超出費(fèi)用由學(xué)生自理。
Students are required to pay tuition and other related fees to the HKUST. If the period of study exceeds the maximum funding period (4 years), students shall be responsible for the extra costs.
四、申請(qǐng)要求 Application Requirements
申請(qǐng)人必須符合香港科技大學(xué)的所有入學(xué)要求（參閱https://pg.ust.hk/prospective-students/home）。在深圳灣實(shí)驗(yàn)室預(yù)報(bào)名階段應(yīng)滿足以下條件：
1. 學(xué)歷：在認(rèn)可院校取得學(xué)士學(xué)位，并有良好表現(xiàn)。
2. GPA： 碩士起點(diǎn)學(xué)生本科及碩士GPA均達(dá)到3.0/4，本科起點(diǎn)學(xué)生GPA達(dá)到3.0/4。
3. 英語：申請(qǐng)人須具備下列其中一項(xiàng)英文能力:
托福-網(wǎng)考（iBT）:80
托福-紙考（pBT）:550
新托福（revised paper-delivered test）:60分(閱讀、聽力和寫作總分)
雅思(學(xué)術(shù)類):總分:6.5分，單科:5.5分
注意：
1) 如有下列情況，申請(qǐng)者無需提供托�；蜓潘汲煽�(jī)
a、母語為英語。
b、獲得學(xué)士學(xué)位(或同等學(xué)歷) 的學(xué)校以英語為教學(xué)語言。
2) 英語成績(jī)必須保證在2021年10月仍在兩年的有效期內(nèi)。
3) 英語成績(jī)單可在提交申請(qǐng)后補(bǔ)交。
The applicant must meet all admission requirements of the HKUST (see https://pg.ust.hk/prospective-students/home for reference). The following conditions should be met in the pre-registration for SZBL:
1. Education background: A bachelor’s or a master’s degree in recognized institutions with outstanding performance.
2. GPA: the GPA shall reach 3.0/4 in all previous degree program.
3. English: Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments:
TOEFL-iBT: 80
TOEFL-pBT: 550
TOEFL-Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections)
IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5
Note:
1) Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if：
a. Their first language is English, or
b. They obtained the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English.
2) All English test score reports should be valid by October 1, 2021.
3) TOEFL or IELTS score can be submitted after the official online application of HKUST.
