Applications are invited for a Research Assistant to join the Metabolic Biology Department at the John Innes Centre.
The main purpose of the role is to evaluate new soil sensors for measuring crop nutrient availability. This job is funded by the BBSRC follow-on fund and will involve testing a newly patented soil sensor. The job includes laboratory and field testing of the sensors to compare them with current methods. The sensors will be deployed at different depths to measure nitrate movement throughout the soil profile and uptake by crops.
Candidates should have a BSc or equivalent experience in Chemistry and/or plant biology and computer experience. Good communication skills, accurate data handling and ability to work independently is also required.
Salary on appointment will be within the range £28,100 to £31,300 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. This post is for a contract of 12 months.
