Job Description

The Sensors and Aerosols Laboratory in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace & Nuclear Engineering at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) (Ulsan, S. Korea) is seeking to hire outstanding post-doctoral fellows for two fields: 1) bioaerosol research and 2) photocatalyst for bioaerosol applications.

The main goals of the research group are to develop a system to capture and detect airborne biological particles using a homemade filter or electrostatic precipitator in various environments and to inactivate bioaerosols optically, for example, using UV photocatalysis. This group offers a stimulating environment as well as access to state-of-the-art equipment.

REQUIREMENTS
Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related engineering field is required.
1) For the bioaerosol part, individuals should set up the aerosol generation and collection system with measurements and may conduct computer simulation on flow and electrical fields using commercial software. They also need to work with other lab mates who can make sensors for the target aerosols.
2) For photocatalyst part, individuals should synthesize photocatalyst and set up test platforms for the inactivation of bioaerosols. Expertise in the bacteria and virus experiments would be a plus.

SALARY AND CONTRACT TERMS
The expected starting salary varies depending on experience and qualifications, and it will increase with responsibilities and performance over time. The contract includes occupational health and social security benefits. The starting date is negotiable. The position will be initially filled for 1yr, with possible extensions max to 3 years altogether.
