Description
General Responsibilities
Assumes significant responsibility for the overall operation of the lab.
Oversees projects within the laboratory.
Executes experiments, including sample procurement, cell preparation, and analyses.
Competently executes experimental techniques including flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA, cell culture, molecular biology, and bacterial and viral growth.
Safely works with pre-clinical mammalian models in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Safely handles pathogens under BSL-2 and ABSL-2 practices and procedures.
Keeps exquisite, accurate, and detailed experimental records.
Analyses data sets in a timely manner.
Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes, develops and implements modifications and provides reports or other consultation to management.
Contributes to the design, interpretation and writing of grant proposals and publications.
Supervises and oversees maintenance of lab equipment and orders and supervises lab supplies.
Uses advanced knowledge of lab practices to direct and teach others by developing guidelines and conducting face-to-face/virtual training.
Works at night and weekends as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Salary $ 49,004.80- $ 95,500.00 annually
Qualifications
Requirements
Doctorate in a related field and one (1) year of related experience
OR Master's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience
OR Bachelor's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
Field of study in Life science or Biomedical Sciences
Basic knowledge of immunology and virology
Experience working with:
BSL-2 pathogens
Flow cytometry
Genotyping
PCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry
Viral and bacterial growth
cell culture
Immune phenotyping using flow cytometric techniques
surface and intracellular staining
quantitation of transcript levels
Knowledge of software packages for data analyses, manuscripts and figure presentation
FlowJo and GraphPad
Ability to:
Safely work in a research laboratory
Handle pre-clinical animal models
sample procurement
